Crusader

Year

1129

Summary

Upon his departure for Jerusalem, Count Fulk the Younger [V] of Anjou visits the abbey of Fontevraud where his daughter Mathilda has recently taken the veil. On this occasion Fulk confirms to the monks all that he had given and conceded to them in the past. His two sons and his other daughter Sibylla commit this confirmation to the abbess with the rule of Saint Benedict (cum regula sancti Benedicti). [This act was one of a group of Fulk's acts included in a pancarte which was confirmed by Fulk's grandson, King Henry II of England in 1154.]

Text

Posteris nostris notificare volumus quod ego Fulco junior, Andegavensis Comes, Fulconis comitis filius, ire volens Iherusalem, conventum sanctimonialium Fontis Evraudi expetii.
