Charter of Hugh of Troyes, 1100-1113

Crusader

Year

1100-1113

Summary

A pancarte of ten separate charters records multiple grants to the abbey of Montiéramey, all of which were issued between the years 1100–1113. Of the ten charters, which were approved publically in the court of Troyes (Actum publice Trecis in curia), only the final two were issued in 1113, and it is the last of these that contains the remark about Hugh’s upcoming journey to the Holy Sepulchre. Of the other eight, only the first three had originally been enacted at the court of Troyes (1100–1103). Four of the remaining five were initially confirmed at the monastery of Montiéramey, and the fifth was confirmed at Bar-sur-Aube.

Text
