Biography
Neither Viscount Adhémar III nor Adhémar IV of Limoges had taken the cross, but Adhémar V of Limoges's uncle Guy of Comborn had done so (for the Second Crusade). The family possessed a ring that had once belonged to the regional crusading hero Gouffier of Lastours. When Adhémar V departed on crusade in 1178, he did so accompanied by the viscount of La Marche and a descendant of the famous Gouffier.
