Biography
Rudolf of Pfullendorf succeeded to his father as count of Ramsperg in around 1155. After his son died of malaria in Italy, Rudolph seems to have begun to surrender his county to the emperor. His departure for Jerusalem in 1180 is recorded in a notice of St. Gallen, which record that he took with him large amounts of gold and silver. He sent back to St. Gallen relics of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In addition to the St. Gallen report, his journey is witnessed by a letter that he sent to the Hospitallers in Venice requesting money be delivered to him from a sum deposited with them, so that he can overwinter in the Holy Land.
