Biography

Maurice II of Craon's journey to the Holy Land is recorded in a remarkable series of documents apparently intended to authenticate or enhance relics that he brought home with him. The relics show Maurice receiving hospitality from some of the most powerful figures and institutions of the Latin East. His return at Christmas, 1170 was recorded in the cartulary of La Röe. He later participated in the Third Crusade.
