Biography

According to William of Tyre, Robert V of Béthune accompanied Philip of Flanders and William de Mandeville on crusade in 1177, bringing with him his sons who had both reached the age of majority. He presented both of them as potential husbands to the daughters of king Amalric. The count ultimately abandoned this plan when negotiations broke down.
